First Home Buyer Choice
The Property Tax (First Home Buyer Choice) Act 2022 received assent on 11 November 2022. First home buyers now have a choice between paying upfront stamp duty or an annual property tax.
Eligible first home buyers can access the scheme from 11 November. Buyers will be required to pay transfer duty on purchases made until 15 January 2023, though will be able to apply for a refund of their duty on the Revenue NSW website from 16 January 2023.
